Application
7α,27-dihydroxycholesterol-d6 has been used as a deuterated internal standard in liquid chromatography electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometric (LC/ESI-MS/MS) for human plasma oxysterol analysis.
Biochem/physiol Actions
7α,27-dihydroxycholesterol (7α,27-di-OHC) is a ligand for Epstein-Barr virus-induced gene 2 (EBI2). 7α27-di-OHC is implicated in neurological disease, Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome, obesity metabolic syndrome and diabetes by lipidomics analysis of human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples. The levels of 7α,27-di-OHC decreases in lipopolysaccharide activation.
General description
7α,27-dihydroxycholesterol (7α,27-di-OHC) is synthesized by the hydroxylation of 27-hydroxycholesterol (27-OHC). It is an oxysterol with side chains oxidized and is a structural isomer of 7α,25-dihydroxycholesterol. 7α,27-dihydroxycholesterol-d6 is a deuterated derivative of 7α,27-di-OHC.
