Application
7β-hydroxycholesterol-d7 has been used:as cholesterol oxidation product for mass spectroscopy analysisas an internal standard for spiking white adipose tissue and plasma samples for mass spectroscopy analysisas an internal standard working solution in gas chromatography- triple-quadrupole mass spectrometryas an isotopically labeled internal standard in tandem mass spectroscopy analysis for plasma sterol quantification
Biochem/physiol Actions
7β-hydroxycholesterol-d7 (7β-OHC) along with 7-ketocholesterol (7-KC) plays a key role in atherogenesis. It is distributed extensively in the arterial compartment of apo- E knockout mice. 7βOHC induces apoptosis via activation of glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK3). It also triggers reactive oxygen species (ROS) resulting in mitochondrial dysfunction. 7βOHC favors demyelination and is a potential oxidized oxysterol in X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) disorder.
General description
7β-hydroxycholesterol (7βOHC) is an oxidized derivative of cholesterol. 7β-hydroxycholesterol-d7 is the deuterated form of 7β-hydroxycholesterol.
