General description

Scavenger receptor class A member 5 (SCARA5) belongs to the scavenger receptor family. It is an L-ferritin receptor that mediates non-transferrin iron delivery in kidney organogenesis. SCARA5 is generally expressed in the kidney, bladder, ovary, adrenal gland, testis, skin, and trachea. It serves as a tumor suppressor in several human cancers.
