General description

Cubic crystals of sodium sulfide (Na₂S) are extremely hygroscopic in nature and discolor on exposure to air. Na₂S is soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol and insoluble in ether. Aqueous solutions of Na₂S are strongly alkaline.
