General description
Cytokines are immunomodulatory polypeptides that play key roles in both adaptive and innate immune responses. A generic term, “cytokines” includes myokines (produced by muscle cells), lymphokines (produced by activated Th cells), interleukins (acting as mediators between T cells) and chemokines (responsible for T-cell migration). One of the regulatory mechanisms of the immune system, cytokines act at the recognition, activation, or effector phases of an immune response, modulating the development and functional activities of the subtypes of T cells, B cells and myeloid cells. Consequently, research involving cytokines plays a significant role in achieving a deeper understanding of the immune system and its multi-faceted response to most antigens, especially those responses that make up the inflammatory process. In addition, the mouse model and mouse-to-human translational studies provide data essential to understanding the role of cytokines and immune response in both normal and disease states. The MILLIPLEX® Mouse Cytokine/Chemokine Bead Panel II, contains all the components necessary to measure the following 15 biomarkers in any combination using Luminex® xMAP® technology: Erythropoietin (EPO), Exodus-2/CCL21/6Ckine, Fractalkine/CX3CL1, IFNβ1, IFNγ, IL-11, IL-16, IL-17A/F, IL-20, MCP-5/CCL12, MDC/CCL22, MIP-3α/CCL20, MIP-3β/CCL19, TARC /CCL17, TIMP-1. The kit uses a 96-well format, contains a lyophilized standard cocktail, two quality controls and can measure up to 38 serum, plasma, or cell/tissue culture samples in duplicate. Panel Type: Cytokines/Chemokines
