Application
Poly(ethylene glycol) has been used:as a component of wheat protoplast isolation and transformation bufferas an additive in suspension cell cultureas a component of yeast transformation bufferas a component of crystallization buffer in cysteine protease ATG4B crystallization
General description
Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is a polymer ethylene glycol units and is hydrophilic in nature. PEG is structurally flexible and has high hydration capacity. PEG is biocompatible and is devoid of steric hindrances in its structure. PEG is a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drug conjugates. It is nonimmunogenic and safe. PEG conjugation improves solubility and dissolution of diabetes drug, Gliclazide. PEG is widely used as a reagent in biochemistry and molecular biology experiments. It is used in carbon nanotube functionalization.
