Application

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected Cytochrome c in HeLa and COS-7 cell lysates.Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected Cytochrome c in HeLa, A431, HUVEC, and NIH 3T3 cells.Affinity Binding Assay: 100 µg/mL from a representative lot detected Cytochrome c in CYCS protein showed a KD of 2.6 x 10^-8 whereas binding of ZRB1503 to non-specific GST protein showed a KD of 4.4 x 10^-4. Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected Cytochrome c in human heart and human stomach tissue sections.Note: Actual optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user as specimens, and experimental conditions may vary with the end user

Anti-Cytochrome c, clone 1M14 ZooMAb, Cat. No. ZRB1503, is a recombinant Rabbit monoclonal antibody that detects Cytochrome c and is tested for use in Affinity Binding Assay, Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin), and Western Blotting.

General description

ZooMAb antibodies represent an entirely new generation of recombinant monoclonal antibodies. Each ZooMAb antibody is manufactured using our proprietary recombinant expression system, purified to homogeneity, and precisely dispensed to produce robust and highly reproducible lot-to-lot consistency. Only top-performing clones are released for use by researchers. Each antibody is validated for high specificity and affinity across multiple applications, including its most commonly used application. ZooMAb antibodies are reliably available and ready to ship when you need them.Learn more about ZooMAb here.

Clone 1M14 is a ZooMAb rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that specifically detects Cytochrome c.

Storage and Stability

Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.

Target description

Cytochrome c (UniProt: P99999; also known as Cyt c) is encoded by the CYCS (also known as CYC) gene (Gene ID: 54205) in human. Cytochrome c is a loosely connected inner mitochondrial membrane protein that functions as an electron carrier in the cell respiratory chain by interacting with redox partners of complex III and complex IV. Cytochrome C is highly conserved during evolution. The oxidized form of the cytochrome c heme group can accept an electron from the heme group of the cytochrome c1 subunit of cytochrome reductase and then transfer this electron to the cytochrome oxidase complex, the final protein carrier in the mitochondrial electron-transport chain. Cytochrome c also plays an important role in apoptosis. It translocates from mitochondria to the cytosol in the cells undergoing apoptosis and participates in the central control or executioner phase of cell death cascade. In this process, caspase-9 and Apaf1 bind to each other in the presence of Cytochrome c and ATP leading to activation of caspase-9, which in turn activates caspase-3 and subsequently DNA fragmentation. This ZooMAb recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals.
