General description

ZooMAb antibodies represent an entirely new generation of recombinant monoclonal antibodies. Each ZooMAb antibody is manufactured using our proprietary recombinant expression system, purified to homogeneity, and precisely dispensed to produce robust and highly reproducible lot-to-lot consistency. Only top-performing clones are released for use by researchers. Each antibody is validated for high specificity and affinity across multiple applications, including its most commonly used application. ZooMAb antibodies are reliably available and ready to ship when you need them.Learn more about ZooMAb here.

Specificity

Clone 1D6 is a ZooMAb rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that specifically detects human Growth-Associated Protein 43 (GAP43).

Storage and Stability

Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.

Target description

Neuromodulin (UniProt: P17677; also known as Axonal membrane protein GAP-43, Growth-associated protein 43, Neural phosphoprotein B-50, pp46) is encoded by the GAP43 gene (Gene ID: 2596) in human. GAP43 is a peripheral membrane protein that is associated with nerve growth. It serves as a common marker of differentiating neurons. It is a major component of the motile "growth cones" that form the tips of elongating axons and plays a role in axonal and dendritic filopodia induction. It is expressed at high levels in neuronal growth cones during development and axonal regeneration. However, it is not fond in dendritic cones. In adult brain, GAP43 is found in high concentration in presynaptic areas where memory formation is thought to occur, such as frontal cortex, limbic system and hippocampus. GAP43 contains an N-terminal lipid binding IQ domain (aa 31-60) that also binds calmodulin. GAP43 is reported to bind calmodulin at low calcium levels and then releases it when calcium levels increase indicating that calmodulin may serve as a negative regulator of GAP43 during periods of low neuronal activity. Protein kinase C-mediated phosphorylation serine 41 is reported to inhibit this interaction and stabilizes actin filaments and promotes growth cone extension. This ZooMAb recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals.(Ref.: Neve, RL et al., (1998). J. Neurosci. 18(19); 7757-7767).
