Physical form

Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS with 5% Trehalose. Normal appearance is a coarse or translucent resin. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 µL.

Specificity

Storage and Stability

Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.

Target description

60 kDa heat shock protein, mitochondrial (UniProt: P10809; also known as 60 kDa chaperonin, Chaperonin 60, CPN60, Heat shock protein 60, HSP-60, Hsp60, HuCHA60, Mitochondrial matrix protein P1, P60 lymphocyte protein) is encoded by the HSPD1 (also known as HSP60) gene (Gene ID: 3329) in human. Hsp60 is a homoheptameric, highly conserved molecular chaperone present in the mitochondrial matrix where along with Hsp10 it helps in protein folding. It also prevents misfolding of proteins and promotes refolding. It is transcribed by a nuclear gene, translated in the cytosol and the newly translated protein is imported into mitochondria. Its mitochondrial import signal (MIS) is localized in the 26 amino acids at the N-terminus. Following its import, the MIS peptide is cleaved off to generate the mature protein. Its mitochondrial import depends on the mitochondrial membrane potential. Under certain pathological conditions, such as cancer and chronic inflammatory diseases, Hsp60 can also accumulate in the cytosol via a mitochondrial export mechanism. Two isoforms of Hsp60 have been described that are produced by alternative splicing.
