Biochem/physiol Actions

Dopachrome tautomerase (DCT) participates in the production of melanin in melanosomes and also in the detoxification of the melanin precursors. It restricts the destructions induced by chemotherapeutic agents like X-ray or UVB (ultraviolet B) and gamma irradiation in melanoma cells and reduces the susceptibility of cell to oxidative stress.
