Biochem/physiol Actions
c-Myc is a regulator of the cell cycle and aids in the growth of tumors in the liver. Translocations in the gene encoding it have been shown to be linked to Burkitt lymphoma. It has been studied that c-Myc targets many protein-coding genes which enhances the oncogenic properties of c-Myc.
The cellular myelocytomatosis (c-myc) oncogene plays a major role in cellular proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. It acts as a transcriptional regulator of gene expression. MYC (MYC proto-oncogene) may be essential for cancer initiation, promotion and therapy resistance. Overexpression of MYC in DLBCL (diffuse large B-cell lymphoma) results in the poor outcome and invasive treatment, when medicated with rituximab plus cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine and prednisone (R-CHOP).

General description
c-Myc is a transcription factor which is over-expressed in a wide range of cancers.
MYC (MYC proto-oncogene) is a transcriptional factor and oncoprotein. c-myc is a member of MYC gene family. It is located on human chromosome 8q24. c-Myc gene codes for basic helix-loop-helix/leucine zipper (bHLH/LZ) transcription factor.Monoclonal Anti-c-myc (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the 9E10 hybridoma produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from immunized BALB/c mice.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide of the human p62c-Myc protein.
Physical form
The product is provided as ascites fluid with 15 mM sodium azide as a preservative.
Specificity
Recognizes both N- terminal and C-terminal c-Myc tagged proteins.
Storage and Stability
For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for a maximum of one month. For extended storage freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Storage in "frost-free" freezers is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use.
