General description
CD43 is a human heavily 0-glycosylated transmembrane protein, which is expressed by T cells and myeloid lineage cells (Borche, 1987; Stross, 1989). Reactivity with plasma cells has been observed (Beschomer, 1999). The molecule is known to be defective in the Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome and may participate in T-cell activation (Stross, 1989).
Immunoblotting studies have revealed molecular mass heterogeneity displayed by the antigen extracted from white blood cells of different lineage. Thus, two major bands of 140 and 130 kDa are seen for the promyelocytic cell line HL60, 110 kDa for the myeloblast cell line KG1 and a major 115 kDa band for peripheral blood lymphocytes (Stross, 1989).
Immunogen
Myeloblast cell line KG1
