ZIC2 is a C2H2-type zinc finger protein that functions as a repressor of transcription and regulates the tissue specific expression of dopamine receptor D1. Expression of ZIC2 is important for the development of nervous system and extension of neurites. ZIC2 inhibits the signaling mediated by Wnt/β-catenin during embryonic development.
