Triglycerides can cross the blood-brain barrier and are found in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The metabolism of triglycerides and fatty acids takes place in the liver. Accumulation of triglycerides within the hepatocytes due to overnutrition and obesity leads to a clinical condition called as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
