Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphatidic acid(PA) is a signaling molecule that is synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It is transported to the mitochondrial outer membrane to stimulate mitofusin (Mfn)-mediated fusion. PA is a major intermediate metabolite involved in the synthesis of membraneglycerophospholipids, which include phosphatidylcholine(PC),phosphatidylserine(PS), phosphatidylethanolamine(PE),and phosphatidylserine (PS).
General description
Phosphatidic acid (PA) is a diacyl-glycerophospholipid that consists of a glycerol and an alcohol moiety, having two fatty acids and a phosphate group esterified at positions 1, 2, and 3, respectively.
