Application
06:0 PC-d35 has been used in bicelle preparation for dystrophin interaction studies.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphocholine (PC) is derived from phosphatidylcholine (lecothin) and is a ligand for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR). It also mediates immune response. 1,2-dihexanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (06:0 PC) forms bicelle with 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) and takes a disc like conformation. Phosphocholine (PC) is the catabolized product of phosphatidylcholine (lecithin). PC mediates immune response and acts as a ligand for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR).
General description
1,2-dihexanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (06:0 PC) is a phospholipid with hydrophobic acyl chain The critical micelle concentration of 06:0 PC is containing phospholipid with a critical micelle concentration of 15 mM. 06:0 PC-d35 is the deuterated form of 06:0 PC.
Deuterated fatty acids experience exchange of the deuteriums on the alpha carbon to the carbonyl, i.e., C2 position, and will therefore be a mixture of compounds that are fully deuterated and partially deuterated at that position.
