General description
The protein named Leukemia-associated RhoGEF (LARG) or alternatively known as Leukemia-associated RhoGEF protein, and encoded by the gene ARHGEF12/KIAA0382/LARG, plays a role in the regulation of RhoA GTPase by guanine nucleotide-binding alpha-12 (GNA12) and alpha-13 (GNA13) proteins. Leukemia-associated RhoGEF (LARG) acts as guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for RhoA GTPase and may act as GTPase-activating protein (GAP) for GNA12 and GNA13. Additionally, Leukemia-associated RhoGEF (LARG) interacts with RHOA, PLXNB1 and PLXNB2, and it interacts with IGF1R beta subunit and GCSAM proteins. Leukemia-associated RhoGEF (LARG) is localized to the cytoplasm and membrane. The protein translocates to the membrane upon stimulation. Leukemia-associated RhoGEF (LARG) widely expressed with isoform specific isoforms being found in certain tissues only, such as isoform 2 is primarily found in the intestine and testis.
