General description
Native, human luteinizing hormone from pituitary gland. A heterodimeric glycoprotein hormone required for ovulation, spermatogenesis, and the biosynthesis of sex steroids. Biological specificity has been attributed to the β-chain. Potency: ≥5000 IU/mg
Native, human luteinizing hormone from pituitary gland. Heterodimeric glycoprotein hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary gland that is required for ovulation, spermatogenesis, and the biosynthesis of sex steroids. Regulates biosynthesis and/or secretion of sex steroids. In the female, LH stimulates synthesis of progesterone in the ovaries, release of estrogen from Graafian follicles, induction of ovulation, and formation of the corpus luteum. In the male, LH stimulates testosterone secretion by the testes. Biological specificity has been attributed to the β-chain.
