Sulphate Reducing Bacteria (SRB) are microorganisms that have the ability to produce corrosive sulphide which can, in turn cause a variety of issues for many industrial sectors - such as the corrosion of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and masonry, discoloration of metal fluids and the production of foul-smelling gases.
SRB Test Kits are fast, efficient, and easy to use for the detection of such microbial induced corrosion (MIC) caused by Sulphate Reducing Bacteria, with a large window of detection from bacterial concentrations as little as ﹥10 SRB cfu/mL up to ﹥104 SRB cfu/mL. Results can be interpreted up to 6 days incubation, with high levels of contamination indicated in as little as 24 hours. Each semi quantitative SRB Test Kits comprises of x 10 plastic tubes filled with selective culture media to encourage the growth of Sulphate Reducing Bacteria. All kits are packaged securely in fitted boxes with an easy-to-follow instruction leaflet, providing all the information required for testing. SRB Test Kits can be used to test a vast range of industrial samples including; metal working fluids, lubricants and oils, water (tanks, environmental, process etc.), fuel tank sediment, corrosion pits/surfaces, soil, mud and core.
