All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry. The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. Biochem/physiol Actions

MARK1 (MAP/microtubule affinity-regulating kinase 1) gene encodes a serine/threonine-protein kinase that belongs to the MARK family kinases. These kinases play an essential role in the establishment and maintenance of cell polarity. MARK1 regulates microtubule-dependent transport in axons and dendrites. It also regulates microtubule dynamics by mediating the effect of DAPK (Death-associated protein kinase) on polarized neurite outgrowth. DAPK activation of MARK1 functions in the regulation of neuronal differentiation and tau toxicity observed in Alzheimer′s disease pathology. Overexpression of MARK1 has been observed in Autism spectrum disorders (ASDs).
