14:0 Lyso PA is suitable to use as internal standard to spike serum samples for the extraction of serum lipids. It is also suitable to use as standard lipids for extraction of lipids and for quality control in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) assay.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) participates in several biological functions. It acts as a potential biomarker for detecting ovarian cancer. LPA stimulates platelet aggregation, smooth muscle contraction, chemotaxis, cytoskeleton rearrangement, Ca²⁺mobilization, neurotransmitter release and cell proliferation.

General description

Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) belongs to a class of phospholipids, that has a glycerol backbone attached by a phosphate group, an aliphatic chain and a hydroxyl group. It has a phosphate group attached tosn-3 position, an aliphatic chain attached to sn-1 orsn-2 position and the hydroxyl group attached to the remainingsn-1 orsn-2 position.
