Application
14:0 PS may be used as an internal standard for spiking serum lipid samples for liquid chromatography-mass spectroscopy analysis and as a component in thephospholipidmonolayer to mimic model cancer cell membrane for the anticancer drugdoxorubicin(DOx) interaction studies. It has been used in lipid binding assay to assess the binding of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphatidylserine(PS) helps to activate proteinkinaseC (PKC). It may possess anti-inflammatory properties. PS is also known to participate in tyrosine hydroxylaseactivation. It is also involved in the uptake of Ca2+and glucose.
General description
Phosphatidylserine(PS) is a retinalphospholipid, which carries long-chain highly unsaturated fatty acyl groups.
