General description
Sox-1 protein (SOX1), also known as SRY (Sex determining region Y)-box 1, is expressed in the developing brain. SOX1 is related to the HMG box of family transcription factors, which are a highly motile group, with a highly conserved DNA binding domain. Sox1 utilizes multiple pathways to play a direct role on cell fate. SOX1 is also directly involved with sex determination of the Y chromosome. Binding of the SOX1, C-terminus, to the Hes 1 promoter results in Hes1 suppression and attenuation of Notch signaling. When the C-terminus of SOX1 binds to β-catenin, TCF/LEF is suppressed, resulting in the attenuation of Wnt signaling.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to SOX1.
Physical form
Affinity purified
Purified rabbit polyclonal antibody precipitated in a solution of 50% saturated ammonium sulfate and PBS containing no preservatives.
Quality
Evaluated by immunohistochemistry on human epidermis.
Immunohistochemistry(paraffin):
A 1:300 dilution of this antibody was used to detect SOX1 in human epidermis.
Specificity
This antibody recognizes SOX1.
Storage and Stability
Stable for 1 year at 2-8°C from date of receipt.
To reconstitute the antibody, centrifuge the antibody at a moderate speed (5,000 rpm) for 5 minutes. Carefully remove the ammonium sulfate/PBS buffer solution and discard; 10 µL of residual ammonium sulfate solution will not affect the re-suspension of the antibody. Do not let the protein pellet dry, as severe loss of antibody reactivity can occur. Re-suspend the antibody pellet in 100L either standard PBS or TBS (pH 7.3-7.5). DO NOT VORTEX. Mix by gentle stirring with a wide pipet tip or gentle finger-tapping. Let the precipitated antibody rehydrate for 1 hour at 25°C prior to use. Small particles of precipitated antibody that fail to re-suspend are normal. Vials are overfilled to compensate for any losses.
