What is BioCote® coating?

BioCote is a unique additive used in a wide range of finishes during the manufacturing process. The Cole-Parmer® Stuart™ Undergrad hot plates and stirring hot plates are protected with BioCote’s active agent silver to provide long-term effective antimicrobial protection.

1. Share cleaner instruments

BioCote provides you with a cleaner instrument. When you use a cleaner product, you transfer less microbes.

2. Protect your product from harboring bacteria and fungus

BioCote effectively protects against a wide range of bacteria and fungi such as Aspergillus niger (black mold), Steptococcus faecalis, Salmonella enteritidis, Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Escherichia coli and Listeria monocytogenes for the useful life of the equipment. BioCote is also effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria, including MRSA.

3. Easier to keep your instruments hygienically clean

BioCote antimicrobial technology protects products, around-the-clock, from these unseen dangers, actively reducing the presence of microbes such as bacteria, mold and viruses on a surface to create a permanently hygienic hot plate that is ultimately safer to use.

Even though you can’t see the BioCote coating, the “Protected by BioCote” sticker on every Cole-Parmer Stuart product will reassure you that the product has long-term microbial protection. 5. Keeps you safe from leachable additives

Wherever manufacturing processes allow, the BioCote active ingredient is added to every possible external part of a piece of the instrument. Because the active silver ions are added during manufacture, they are chemically bound within the material and won’t leach out, rub off, or wear off.
