General description

Imipenem belongs to the class of carbapenems, a beta-lactam antibiotic, effective against aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Carbapenems act by inhibiting the peptidoglycan synthesis involved in bacterial cell wall formation, thus causing the death of the target microorganism.
