Anionic detergent
Sodium dodecyl sulfate has been used in western blot lysis buffer and also to prepare SDS-loading dye.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)/lauryl sulfate, an ionic detergent has the ability to distract biological membranes. It can block RNase and deoxyribonuclease (DNase) activity.
