Biochem/physiol Actions

ST6GALNAC5 is a sialtransferase expressed in forebrain and cerebellum and involved in the modification of proteins and ceramides present on the cell surface. It may regulate cell-cell or cell-extracellular matrix interactions. Mutations in ST6GALNAC5 gene might cause coronary artery disease.
