Anti-RhoGAP1 Antibody is an antibody against RhoGAP1 for use in western blotting & ICC.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.5 µg/mL from a representative lot detected RhoGAP1 in 10 µg of A431, NIH/3T3, and PC-12 cell lysates.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A representative lot from an independent laboratory detected RhoGAP1 in HeLa cells (Schiel, J. A., et al. (2012). Nat Cell Biol. 14(10):1068-1078.).

General description

RhoGAP1, also known as Rho GTPase-activating protein 1, CDC42 GTPase-activating protein, Rho-related small GTPase protein activator, Rho-type GTPase-activating protein 1, or p50-RhoGAP, and encoded by the gene ARHGAP1/CDC42GAP/RHOGAP1, is an important GTPase activator for the Rho, Rac, and CDC42 GTP binding proteins, converting them to the putatively inactive GDP-bound state. CDC42 is the preferred substrate for RhoGAP1. Such GTPase-activating proteins or GAPs play an important role in signal transduction pathways regulated by GTP-binding proteins. In addition to acting as down-regulators of GTPases, there is growing evidence that they also act as effector molecules required for downstream signaling. RhoGAP1 is found in multiprotein complexes in the cytoplasm in most cells. Recent research has shown RhoGAP1 to be particularly important during epithelial to mesenchymal morphogenesis and for carcinoma metastasis. Rho-ROCK signaling is essential for cell apical detachment and the generation of motility. RhoGAP1 restricts Rho activation to apical areas and thus helps guide the detachment process and thus is a target of much developmental and cancer research.

Immunogen

GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to human RhoGAP1.

Other Notes

Concentration: Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.

Physical form

Affinity purified

Purified rabbit polyclonal in buffer containing PBS with 0.05% sodium azide.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in HeLa cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.25 µg/mL of this antibody detected RhoGAP1 in 10 µg of HeLa cell lysate.

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
