General description
Engulfment and cell motility protein 1 (ELMO1) is a cytoplasmic protein involved in the clearance of apoptotic cells by phagocytosis. ELMO1 is activated downstream of the phosphatidylserine receptor BAI1. ELMO1 binds to DOCK180 and facilitates its transport to the plasma membrane where DOCK180 activates the GTPase RAC1, possibly via Arf6. RAC1, like other small GTPases, mediate cytoskeleton remodeling and cell motility which is necessary for the internalization of target cells.
Immunogen
Epitope: ELMO domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to human ELMO1 at the ELMO domain.
Other Notes
Concentration: Please refer to the Certificate of Analysis for the lot-specific concentration.
Physical form
Affinity purified
Purified rabbit polyclonal in buffer containing 0.1 M Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 150 mM NaCl with 0.05% sodium azide.
Quality
Evaluated by Western Blot in Jurkat cell lysate.
Western Blot Analysis: 0.1 µg/mL of this antibody detected ELMO1 on 10 µg of Jurkat cell lysate.
Specificity
This antibody recognizes ELMO1 at the ELMO domain.
No homology to Rat was found.
Storage and Stability
Stable for 1 year at 2-8°C from date of receipt.
Target description
~78 kDa observed. This antibody exhibits strong affinity, high dilutions are recommended. The calculated molecular weight is 84 kDa, however ELMO1 has been shown as a ~78 kDa band in western blots (Gumienny, T.L., et al. (2001). Cell. 107:27–41.)
