General description
Caspase-5 (CASP5) is a member of the peptidase C14A family that can be divided into the apoptotic and inflammatory caspase subfamilies. Members of this subfamily include caspase-1, -4, -5, and -12. When activated, these caspases result in the cleavage and activation of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1beta and IL-18. Caspase-5 is expressed in barely detectable amounts in most tissues except brain, with highest levels being found in lung, liver and skeletal muscle. Overexpression of the active form of this enzyme induces apoptosis in fibroblasts.
Immunogen
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the intermediate domain of human Caspase-5.
